Air Lands Second Screen Order

UKTV Play has commissioned Air Television to make ten exclusive short films to support our new hit series Helicopter ER.

The on-demand films will be fronted by paramedics, doctors and pilots from the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and the Yorkshire Ambulance Service – giving viewers the chance to learn medical and survival skills or simply find out more about how the team work.

Helicopter ER Essentials was ordered by UKTV Play general manager Emma Boston and Really programming manager Dom Wilkins.  The series producer is Air’s Matt Richards.

Helicopter ER – Really’s first original commission – has consistently delivered the channel’s biggest audience of the week since launch in October and its debut show doubled the slot average.

Air executive producer Andy Joynson said: “We’re delighted to be able to give fans of the show a rich second-screen experience.  The medics are naturals on camera and some of the content in these films could actually help save lives.”

General Manager of UKTV Play, Emma Boston, said, “Helicopter ER has been a brilliant success for Really.  There has been a huge appetite for the series and we are excited to offer UKTV Play users some exclusive content to compliment the show.”
